If youve been paying attention to 50s Chevrolet valuesand#44; you already know that the 1958 Impala convertible is the biggest star in the bowtie universe. This incredible ragtop is beautifully restored and highly correctand#44; offering everything an investor would want and everything a hobbyist can love.<br /> <br /> Painted brilliant code 923 Rio Redand#44; this big ragtop definitely has the right look. In 1958and#44; the guy who ordered this car new seemed to understand that there was just no point in going subtleand#44; not with all that chrome and the tri-tone interior. And when it was restoredand#44; they spent extra time to get it rightand#44; because this is a car that attracts a lot of attention. Theres a lot to absorb on the 58 Impalaand#44; but even if you look closelyand#44; youll see that every detail is razor sharpand#44; from the unique fins to the cool jet-like outlets on the lower quarter panel. Gaps are exemplary and the doors close with easeand#44; the trunk lines up just rightand#44; and the giant hood lines up neatly with the grille surround. And speaking of the grilleand#44; the massive chrome bill on this car delivered spectacular resultsand#44; as all the jewelry is in excellent condition. All the wonderful details that make the 58 Impala so special are hereand#44; and all of it got the restorers touch before it was bolted into place. This car is simply off-the-charts nice.<br /> <br /> I mentioned the tri-tone interior and it has also been expertly restored to as-new condition. New seat coversand#44; fresh carpetsand#44; and gorgeous door panels with red anodized inserts accurately re-create the factory look and this is one of those cars that you can drive every day for a month and not notice all the details. Check out the two-tone steering wheeland#44; the neatly accented floor matsand#44; and accessory tissue dispenser under the dash. The gauges are in excellent conditionand#44; with a wide speedometer up top and auxiliary gauges in the bright metal dash panel below. Theres also a factory AM radioand#44; which is the only component on this entire car thats not functional. Overhead theres a power convertible top that seals this big ragtop up without effort and it comes with a red boot for warm weather. And thanks to the continental kit out backand#44; the trunk is positively massive and is finished with a correct mat and jack assembly.<br /> <br /> The biggest engine you could get in 1958 was a 348 cubic inch V8and#44; and the top performer was the tri-power version like thisand#44; featuring three 2-barrel carburetors. The uniquely shaped valve covers make it easy to spot in the engine bay and the trio of carburetors hides neatly under a largeand#44; round air cleaner. Chevy Orange paint and correct hardwareand#44; fastenersand#44; and fittings make it look very correct. It still generates electricity with a generator and its fitted with a reproduction Delco tar top batteryand#44; so they obviously cared about making it look right as well as run properly. Remarkablyand#44; this big luxury cruiser is fitted with a 3-speed manual transmissionand#44; which makes it a great performer with that muscular V8 under the hood. It also sounds great with that dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers offering a classic 50s soundtrack. Beautifully detailed chassis componentsand#44; shiny red floorsand#44; and all-new hardware make this a car you can drive and show with confidence. And those gorgeous 15-inch chrome wire wheels make a high-impact car even more appealing and carry proper 7.50-14 Firestone wide whites.<br /> <br /> Cars restored to this level are obviously quite rareand#44; and when theyre the iconic 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertibleand#44; it all adds up to a blue-chipand#44; #1 investment car thats a joy to drive.
