ATTENTION COLLECTORS --1955 was the Make or Break year for Corvette. The big brass at GM were about ready to kill the Corvette unless some drastic measures were taken to insure higher sales. That drastic measure was more power in the form of the first small block OHV V-8 from Chevrolet; the 283ci w/195hp. It was what Corvette wanted and sorely needed! And although sales were only 700 units in andrsquo;55, the V-8 changed the cars fortunes for the better, to say the least! The rest is history . . .<br /><br />This stunning frame off restored example is 1 of just 15 Corvette Copper with Dark Beige interior andrsquo;55andrsquo;s built. It is believed to be 1 of just 75 Corvettes built with a 3 speed manual transmission. It has been carefully and very correctly frame off restored to a very high standard using many original parts in the process! The car is restored to what it would have looked like when delivered new in andrsquo;55 although it has todayandrsquo;s 2 stage paint and a black powder coated frame. It has the period correct numbers matching block with many correctly dated parts. The car has been stored properly and driven only 25 miles since the restoration, it is in excellent condition throughout and looks absolutely beautiful in this rare, one year only color combination. The excellence of the restoration also extends to it mechanically, as well as the cosmetics. It runs and drives just as a andrsquo;55 should. Itandrsquo;s comes with the unrestored but very good condition side curtains and case. This will be a great car for a special collection and especially to get judged at some major car shows.
