Very rare Town and Country convertible in outstanding condition, inside and out! Showcasing a terrific blend of original and professionally restored, all while remaining wonderfully authentic throughout! All correct components, original wood, and a splendid operating vehicle! Full CCCA Classic! Act quickly! With World War II coming to a close in 1945, production for Chrysler motorcars commenced in 1946 with a proud namesake already in place, the Town and Country! Based on the New Yorkers 127.5 wheelbase, it was luxuriously clad in hand-crafted ash wood doors and trunk with mahogany veneered sheet metal in between. Over three production years, just 8,375 would be produced, each year being more expensive than the last. By 1948, its final appearance, the MSRP reached $3,395 making it one of the most expensive models on Chrysler showrooms. The Town and Country would live on by namesake, but never be the same in elegance, custom craftsmanship, or design! Today, well preserved originals command deserving values. And from a restoration standpoint, hard to complete for the same money considering the skillset required to properly finish one today. We could not be more proud to offer this 1948 Chrysler Town and Country Convertible finished in factory correct paint code 8- Gunmetal Grey over 42- Burgundy Leather/ Tan Broadmoor Cord cloth interior, and Black cloth soft top! Having been restored both cosmetically and mechanically, it is a brilliant blend of both honest original and professionally restored! Features include original 324ci Spitfire L-head Straight 8 producing 135hp mated to the sophisticated, and perfectly operating Fluid-Drive semi-automatic 4-speed transmission. Options include power operated folding top, dual MOPAR spotlights, dual outside mirrors, Marvel Mystery Inverse oiling system, dual trumpet horns, pushbutton AM radio, turn signals, Comfort Master heater, front and rear bumper guards, and 8.20-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whitewall tires! This outstanding example received a professional, engine out re-spray of the paintwork while remaining on the original frame leaving the undercarriage original to the 87,820 miles showing on the odometer. The original wood with factory finger joints and color tones all remain intact and in exceptional condition! The fresh paintwork is outstanding along with brand new convertible top and interior carpet all match the gorgeous re-chromed exterior components for a showroom new appearance! Inside, the car survived with an all original interior when it arrived to our facility. We made the decision based on the condition of the visual look of the dry leather that it required replacement. The original cloth fabric was retained to support the originality, and only the leather on the outside seating surfaces, armrests, visors, and brand new rear boot cover were replaced. The door panels and rear side cards remain original. It continues to run with its 1948 date-code original engine bearing unit #C3963277 (titled off engine) with original components that include 6-volt Chrysler/Autolite electrical system (starter/distributor/generator), Ball and Ball carburetor, new cloth-covered cloth wiring, original engine splash pans, engine heat shields, replacement decal stickers, new hoses and factory style clamps, all riding on a super solid original chassis with factory floor pans and excellent body mounts! This example will also include spare tire, jack, bag of tools, and boot cover bag. A Full CCCA Classic! We would invite interested parties to schedule an appointment as soon as possible! Thanks for your interest!
