This car is just two owners from new. It was purchased on September 27, 1924, for $1,517.50 from Steinheimer Studebaker in Reno, NV. The accompanying car file contains copies of the hand ledgers regarding the purchase and original loan payment transactions, as well as the original title #5242 granted to the purchaser upon final payment.

The present owner purchased the car in 1953. The owner copy of the Bill of Sale and Court Letters of Administration are in the file along with a very good copy of the small green title issued in 1960 and almost every year of registration for the car from 1960 through 2013.

It is, and always has been, a Nevada car. The license plate is W1925, which would certainly be transfered with the car to a Nevada buyer.

The Studebaker is a rarity, being a California Edition. Intended for warm climates, it has open sides with retractable side curtains for the comfort of passengers.

The present owner did little to restore it. It is largely original and there are copies of 1950s invoices in the file for what little work he did on the car. It ran well and was driven on a number of Horseless Carriage Club of Nevada events through the mid-1980s. The original damaged roof has been removed and a replacement installed with period correct material and side curtains. The paint has been buffed, brightwork polished, new period correct tubes and tires installed, and general mechanical maintenance has been performed since 2014. An electric fuel pump was discreetly installed in 2016, bypassing the original vacuum system. It runs well, but the radiator leaks. Receipts for this work are also in the file.Vintage tools, spare tire, jack, and period accessories are included.

The Studebaker was entered in its first judged event in September, 2016, winning an Award of Merit (2nd in the Studebaker class, the featured marque this year) at the Ironstone Concours deElegance. This is no mean feat considering the car is largely unrestored and only received a general cleaning before entry. It shows quite well.
